Description

Aylesfield Farmhouse is a late 17th-century house that was altered and extended in the early 19th century, with 20th-century additions to the rear. It is constructed of brick walls in English bond, with a tile roof. The symmetrical south front features two storeys and three windows, with a single-window bay added to the west. The roof is half-hipped, with a central stack. The walls include a first-floor band, rubbed flat arches, a cemented plinth, and show evidence of originally narrower windows. The early 19th-century cast-iron diamond casements remain. A gabled brick porch, built in the early 19th century, features a Tudor arch, and contains a 17th-century oak panelled door with two large panels. The rear extensions are sympathetic in scale and materials.
