Description
Blounce Farmhouse, dated 1699, is a two-storey building with an attic and a symmetrical east front featuring five windows. It has a hipped tile roof with three small hipped dormers that contain casements, and a fully-moulded modillion cornice. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring rubbed flat arches, a first-floor band, and a moulded plinth. In the upper walling, flush blue header bricks form the large inscription "16 WB 99". The windows are sashes set in exposed frames. The doorway is adorned with a moulded pediment supported by bold curved brackets, above a solid door frame that encloses a three-light plain fanlight and later double doors, which are accessed by a flight of stone steps. The design continues at each end of the building, with lower wings projecting westwards in a less formal vernacular style.
