Description
No. 6 High Street is a mid-18th century building with a facade that belongs to an earlier structure. It stands three stories tall and is six bays wide, constructed of vitreous and red brick. The ground floor features a central recessed door with a fanlight of an unusual design, accessed by four stone steps with wrought-iron railings. This door is set within a pedimented doorcase and is flanked by single Palladian-type windows, with a later arched opening on the left. There is a band at the first floor level, which has six flush segment-headed windows. Above the second floor windows, there is another band, and the building is topped with a parapet. No. 6 is part of a group that includes The Crown Hotel and Nos 4 to 10 (even) on the same side of the street, along with No. 1 on the opposite side.
