Description
The gates, gatepiers, and flanking walls located 220 meters to the west of Sherfield House School's main building were constructed around 1896. They were designed as carriage and pedestrian entrances to Sherfield Manor by architects Fairfax Blomfield Wade and C Frankiss. The structure features four tall panelled stone piers that include moulded stone plinths, cornices, and ball finials. The central carriage gates are made of cast iron scrollwork and are flanked by narrower pedestrian gates. Additionally, there is a brick retaining wall topped with stone coping. This entrance remains unaltered and is a late 19th-century design by the same architects responsible for the main house, Sherfield Manor, which is now Sherfield School.
