Description
The gates, piers, and entrance yard wall located to the south-east of Sharpecliffe Hall date from the late 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier materials. The wall is constructed from coursed stone and stands approximately 1.5 meters high, featuring deep pitched copings that curve in two concave shapes leading to square plan piers that rise to about 2.5 meters. These piers are topped with ball finials on a moulded surbase. The entrance is adorned with ornate crested cast iron gates. This architectural ensemble creates an impressive approach to the entrance front of Sharpecliffe Hall and is included for its group value.
