Description

Longbridge Mill is a building dating from the 17th century and early 19th century. It has two storeys and an attic, with a main block featuring a mansard tiled roof and two gabled dormers. The walls are constructed of brickwork in English bond, with cambered openings on the ground floor. Weather-boarded sections on each side indicate the wheel housing above the water channel. There are some early 19th-century metal casements. Inside, the mill retains massive timbers and remnants of old machinery, including a wide wheel. At the west end, there are north and south wings; the north wing is from the 17th century and features exposed timber framing in the upper part with brick infill and lower walling, topped with a half-hipped roof. The south wing is early 19th century and has a similar form. There are small brick and tile extensions at the east end.
