Description

Andwell Mill is a building with a core dating to the 17th century, with significant extensions from the late 18th century and alterations around 1900. The mill block has a north gable featuring an exposed timber frame, which is brick-nogged in the upper part. The west side of the mill was modernised, resulting in a tall two-storey block, and a one-and-a-half-storey west wing with attic space. Attached to the east is an 18th-century two-storey house of typical proportions, now integrated to form a single dwelling. The roof is tiled, with hipped dormers on the west wing; brick dentil eaves are present on the east wing. The brickwork is red, in a Flemish bond pattern, with blue headers on the west side, and cambered ground-floor openings. Modern casements, a modern doorway flanked by windows, and a large canopy are also visible.
