Description
Beacon Hill Arch is a gateway arch to a park drive, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow brick, which was probably originally rendered with Coade stone dressings. The design combines Gothic and Classical styles, resembling a triumphal arch. It features a large two-centred carriage arch over the drive, flanked by pairs of large piers and small pointed-arch foot arches. The arches are adorned with brick hoodmoulds and moulded Coade stone imposts. There are moulded Coade stone entablatures and cornices on the piers. Atop the central carriageway arch, there is a Coade stone trophy, while armorial shields and embattled parapets decorate the foot arches.
