Description
The Olde Forge is a building dating from around the 18th and 19th centuries, with origins in the late medieval period. It features a three-bay timber-frame structure that is mostly intact above the ground floor. The building has a front elevation facing north, consisting of two storeys and two windows. It is topped with a large tiled roof that is hipped at the east end and half-hipped at the west end. The upper walls are plastered, while the ground floor is made of painted brickwork. The windows are casements of various designs. There is a plain doorway with a simple canopy, and on the west side, there is a wide opening leading to the forge, which has half-glazed folding doors. Inside, the building boasts massive beams and a large chimney breast, as well as a notable 18th-century oak corner cupboard with a curved front.
