Description

The building is a late 17th and 18th century Barclays Bank. It has a plain front of two storeys and an attic, with three windows, and features an old tiled roof and red brick walling in Flemish bond. The first floor has sash windows in exposed frames, while the ground floor has modern windows. A plain doorway is also present. The main architectural feature is the north gable, which is a late 17th-century symmetrical facade with crude classical detailing in cut brickwork. The gable includes a framework of pilasters and a pediment with a small relief above a hood-mould, over a later, wider, single casement window. The eaves level has a continuous entablature with cut brick mouldings and side pilasters with Ionic capitals. The two windows on each floor have hood-moulds, moulded side pieces, and a banded cill.
