Description
No 12 on Wote Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It features painted brickwork in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches and a stucco band at the first floor, as well as stone cills. The building has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with plain eaves and stands two storeys high with four windows. The windows are Victorian plate glass sashes set in reveals. The entrance has a thin doorcase with a moulded cornice supported by brackets, and a simple moulded architrave that surrounds a decorative metalwork fanlight. Notably, the south corner of the building includes the octagonal gate-pier from the former Corn Exchange.
