Description

The Town Hall, built in the late 18th century, is a two-storey building featuring a symmetrical facade on the east side, with a configuration of windows arranged as 1:1.1.1:1. The upper floor is notably tall, with the central section slightly projecting from the wings and featuring a prominent centerpiece. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, topped by a continuous cornice. The central section has a parapet with coping, which is interrupted by a steep pediment that encloses a clock face. Above this gable, there is a square turret adorned with corner pilasters, arched openings with keystones and impost blocks, a cornice, and a dome, culminating in a wrought-iron weathervane.

The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring rubbed flat cambered and round arches, and stone cills. Stucco elements include rustication between the impost band and plinth, as well as a band at the first floor. The upper floor has sash windows, with the central, wider lights set within a recessed opening beneath a segmental arch. This section is supported by a vermiculated impost band that holds a plastered panel with a hollow fan design. Each wing has panelled doors, and there are high windows on either side of the central opening, which has been converted into a glazed doorway. The other elevations are built of red brick in English bond, with a modern flat-roofed rear wing added to the north side.
