Description
Old Brewery House is a building that dates from the 15th century, with later alterations in the late 18th century and 19th century. The symmetrical front, facing south, is from the late 18th century and features two storeys with three windows. The roof is tiled and has former gables that are now half-hipped, with a parapet between them that hides the valley. The walls are rendered with a plinth.
On the upper level, the windows on each side are sash windows set beneath arched openings that have plastered tympanums. In the center, there is a small circular window. The ground floor features angular bays with sash windows and flat roofs. The entrance is marked by a Tuscan porch supported by two columns and two pilasters, which includes a plain fanlight and a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed at the top.
The building extends to the rear and includes modern details; behind the wall, there is a cruck that indicates a former timber-frame structure. Inside, there are panelled doors with architraves, an early 19th-century staircase, and a fireplace with a cornice above a surround that has a bolection moulding. The two upper rooms at the front have segmental ceilings.
