Description
The barn and cattle sheds at Manor Farm were built between 1873 and 1875. They are constructed from mass concrete, using crushed debris from older buildings as aggregate, processed through a Blake's Crusher. The structure features iron floor beams and shallow curved roofs, which are now covered in either slate or corrugated iron sheeting. The buildings form three parallel ranges of animal sheds, linked by a rear block that includes a barn and a cartshed.
The southeastern range appears to have originally included a coach house in the middle and stables at the end. It has five pivoting casements with metal glazing bars and a slate roof supported by two through purlins and a ridgepiece. The central range is a single storey with a curved corrugated iron roof, featuring five doors and three windows, along with curved wooden roof trusses. The rear of this range is open, supported on two cast iron columns and padstones.
The northeastern range is two storeys high, also with a curved corrugated iron roof, and contains four 20th-century metal casements. The rear range is similarly two storeys with a corrugated iron roof, featuring three hoists at the first-floor level and three sliding doors. The left side has an open ground floor, with the first floor supported on five iron columns with stone staddles, and a five-bay loft above the cart shed. To the right side is a six-bay barn.
