Description
The Orangery is an 18th-century structure with later alterations. It is constructed of stucco with a slate roof. The single-story building has a five-bay arcaded front, with columns featuring plinths and capitals supporting archivolts. These openings are now filled with later small-paned French windows, each set beneath a similar fanlight with a central mullion. Inside, the floor is largely paved with square white stone slabs incorporating black diamond inlays. The rear wall is curved at either side and supported by four slender cast-iron columns. Three later French windows in the rear wall open into The Bothy. The Orangery is attached to the kitchen garden walls at the front corners and on both sides of the rear elevation. It is a well-preserved, high-quality 18th-century orangery.
