Description

Lunsford is a farmhouse with a core dating from the 17th century, featuring alterations from the 18th century and a kitchen and scullery extension added to the rear in the 19th century. The front range has an 18th-century appearance, with a front elevation that is rendered over brickwork on a brick plinth, and the gable ends are tile hung. The roof is half-hipped and covered with old tiles, topped by a central brick chimney stack that has a cruciform shape. The building has two storeys and attics in the gable end, as well as a part cellar.

The layout is roughly L-shaped with three windows, and it includes a lobby entrance type with basement windows, two of which are tripartite. The ground floor windows are set in original cambered architraves. The central doorcase features a flat moulded weatherhood supported by brackets, and the entrance consists of a six-panel double door, with the top two panels being glazed. The right side gable has an attic window with leaded lights, while the left wing has a half-hipped gable.

At the rear, there is an early 19th-century kitchen and wash house extension made of brick with a tiled post, which is a single storey and has two iron casement windows. Inside, the farmhouse contains a staircase with turned banisters, several old plank doors, and diamond-shaped mortises for wooden mullions that indicate the line of the original rear wall.
