Description
Pitts Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a core dating back to the 17th century, although its appearance is largely from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble with red brick dressings and features a tiled roof with three brick chimneystacks. The building consists of two parallel ranges and is two storeys high. The front range has three windows, which are 19th-century triple casements, and includes a 19th-century trellised weather porch with a gabled slate roof. The rear range has two casement windows and a central doorcase with an early 19th-century six-panelled door, where the top two panels are glazed. Inside, the cellar contains a 17th-century spine beam with a four-inch chamfer and lambs tongue stops, along with an 18th-century brick fireplace that has a bread oven. The parlour features a spine beam with a three-inch chamfer and lambs tongue stop. There is also an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters and scrolled tread ends.
