Description

Mount House Cottage and Mount House is a Grade II listed building located on the south side of Burwash High Street. This structure dates back to the 16th century and features a timber-framed design. The eastern part of the building was reconstructed in the early 17th century, while the western part was rebuilt in the early 18th century.

The building has two storeys and an attic, with a total of six windows. The exterior is tile-hung, and there are two gables with attic windows at the west end of the front. The eastern section includes casement windows with small square panes and a doorway that has a flat hood above it. The western section features sash windows with intact glazing bars, and the main doorway is flanked by narrow lights, also with a flat hood supported by brackets. This doorway includes a narrow rectangular fanlight with two oval lights and a door with six moulded panels. Additionally, there is an early 18th-century staircase within the building.
