Description

This building is a range of houses, originally four but now five, dating back to the 17th century or earlier. The west wall reveals the original timber frame and plaster infilling, while the ground floor is faced with painted brick and the upper floors are tile-hung with a slight bellcast. A gable at the west end contains an attic window. The houses now have a mix of casement windows with small square panes and sash windows retaining their glazing bars. The doorways have doors consisting of six fielded panels. Swan Inn House, The Cygnet, and Lime Cottage have flat hoods above the entrances. Yew Tree House features a pediment and a segmental fanlight. The Old Granary originally had a 19th-century shop window, which has been replaced by two curved bay windows in a Georgian style with glazing bars. The building is two stories high and includes seven windows and four dormers. Swan Inn House and The Cygnet were formerly known as St Joseph’s.
