Description
Taylor's Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century, originally timber framed, which has been extended to the south and widened to the east. It was refronted in the early 19th century. The ground floor is finished in brick, while the first floor is tile hung. The building features a tiled roof with a brick chimney stack positioned forward of the ridge. It has two storeys and attics, with two triple casement windows. The gabled north-west section includes two bays of timber framing, and the first-floor chamber was originally open to the roof. The north wall displays a cambered tie beam, an intermediate post, and long curved internally exposed footbracing to the principal post. The eastern wall has mortices for a three-light unglazed window. The roof has been rebuilt, and the northern fireplace is believed to date from the late 17th or early 18th century.
