Description
Yokehurst Farm Cottage and Drapers Farm Cottage is a pair of cottages that were originally a farmhouse, likely dating from the late 15th century. The building features a two-bay timber-framed open hall that was refronted in the early 19th century and refenestrated in the 20th century. The rear elevation displays exposed timber framing, consisting of four bays, with the first floor showing exposed square framing and end tension braces. Three bays have plaster infill, while one bay has painted brick infill. The roof is steeply pitched and tiled, featuring a gablet and a late 16th-century ribbed brick chimneystack on the left side. The front elevation has a ground floor made of painted brick and a weather-boarded first floor, with four mainly 20th-century casements. Yokehurst Farm Cottage has a half-glazed 20th-century door, while Drapers Farm Cottage includes a 20th-century lean-to. The side elevation is constructed of 19th-century brick at the ground floor, with weather-boarding above. Yokehurst Farm Cottage also showcases exposed beams, including a roll-moulded dais beam.
