Description
The High Street Post Office, located at Nos 86, 87, and 87A on the north-west side of High Street, is an early 19th-century building with a stuccoed front that conceals an older structure that has undergone significant alterations. The building is two storeys high and two windows wide. The ground floor features a Victorian shop front that has been altered, complete with a high fascia. On the first floor, there are two sashes with glazing bars set in moulded cases. The roof is slate with gable ends. The left-hand end of the building has chamfered quoins from the adjoining building, No 85, which has since been demolished. Inside, there are some stop-chamfered beams that are likely remnants of the original 17th-century building. All the listed buildings on High Street up to and including No 118 form a group.
