Description

No. 7 High Wickham is a stuccoed house dating from around 1840. It is tall and narrow, featuring three storeys and a basement, and is two windows wide. On the right side, there is a full-height canted bay with sash windows. The left side has a second-floor sash window and a first-floor French window that opens onto a balcony, which spans the width of the house and is adorned with ornate cast iron railings. A cill band is present at the second floor. All the sash windows lack glazing bars. The ground floor on the left has a fielded-panel door with a rectangular fanlight above it. A plaque on the front notes that Mark Rutherford, the writer, lived here for many years.

This house is part of a group that includes Nos. 3 to 18 (consecutive), with Nos. 4, 5, 15, 16, 17, and 18 being of local interest only.
