Description

Lavender House is an early 19th-century building located on Rock-A-Nore Road. The front of the building is faced with black mathematical tiles and has a tiled roof with one hipped end. It is four storeys high, with a basement, and originally had two windows. The windows are sash windows with vertical glazing bars, set in flush frames. A doorway leads to the house via eight steps, and features pilasters, an open pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a glazed door.

A wing is set back to the right, with a stuccoed exterior and an old tiled roof with gable ends. This wing is two storeys high with an attic, and originally had no windows, only an original hipped dormer.

The appearance of Lavender House has been altered by the construction of the Mermaid Cafe, which has been built out in front of the left half of the house.

Lavender House, together with numbers 2 and 74 All Saints Street, form a group. Number 2 is considered to be a building of local interest only.
