Description
The statue of Spencer Compton, Eighth Duke of Devonshire, KG, who lived from 1833 to 1908 and served as Mayor of Eastbourne in 1897 and 1898, is located in the gardens in front of the Grand Hotel. This bronze statue, which stands on a granite plinth, was erected in 1910. It depicts the Duke standing while wearing Chancellor's robes and a 'George' collar.
