Description
The Old Vicarage and Houndsford Lodge, now two houses, largely dates to the early 18th century and has been altered over time. The building is constructed of a combination of plum brick with red dressings and red brick. It has a moulded wood cornice to the hipped roof, which is covered in old tiles, with irregular chimneys. The front facing the road has been altered in the 20th century, with two gabled bays at first floor on the left and a two-bay projection with sash windows containing glazing bars on the right. A 20th-century porch and door are also present. To the west, a two-storey angular bay with a hipped roof has three upper sash windows with glazing bars; to the left is an arched radiating staircase window over a half-glazed door. The door is topped by an arched fanlight with a painted wood scroll pattern, a key block, and an architrave. This is supported by Doric pilasters and a doorcase of engaged Doric columns, an entablature with a triglyph frieze, a modillioned cornice, and a pediment. A lower, irregular, two-storey service wing and coach house, dating to the late 18th century, are located to the north. These are constructed of brick, with some chequered patterns, brick dentil eaves, and an old tile roof. The service wing has sash windows with glazing bars, framed by architraves. One sash window is three-light with glazing bars, positioned alongside the staircase window.
