Description
Mavis Cottage, White Rose Cottage, and Chauncerie are a row of cottages dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame, featuring painted brick, rendered infilling, and brick facing on the 19th-century section. They have an old tiled gabled roof with brick chimneys along the ridge. The building has six framed bays and one brick bay on the left side, and it stands two storeys tall.
The road-facing side includes a mix of two and five-light 20th-century leaded casements, along with smaller pane 19th-century casements, all arranged irregularly. There is one sash window with glazing bars on the left side of the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century bays, one square and the other angular, both featuring 19th-century four-pane casements. The entrance doors, which are from the 20th century, are also irregularly spaced. At the rear, there are 20th-century extensions. Inside, many timbers are exposed, particularly in the 17th-century section, which includes queen post roof trusses and straight braces.
