Description

Apple Tree Cottage and The Cottage are a range of four cottages, now combined into two dwellings, dating from around 1700 and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and timber framing, with painted brick infilling and an old tile gabled roof of varying heights. It has a rectangular plan spanning four and six framed bays, with two storeys. The left-hand section features brick dentil eaves, while the roof has three chimneys. The south front has painted brick on the ground floor, with timber framing above. The windows are irregular, with one, two, and three lights, and leaded casements. There are three 20th-century entrance doors: one centrally located within a tiled gabled open porch, one to the left with a hipped closed porch, and one to the right within an open hipped porch supported by brackets. A small 20th-century lean-to extension with a tiled roof is present on the left. Internally, much of the original timber frame remains exposed.
