Description

Northbury Farmhouse is a manor house, later adapted into a large house, dating to the late 16th century. It was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is timber-framed with brick infilling and has an old tile gabled roof with a chimney located to the south of the centre. The building follows an H-plan, featuring three framed bay crosswings on either side of a central hall, which has been floored over. A single-storey extension was added to the rear in the 20th century. The east front has one framed gabled projection on either side of the central gable. Each flanking gable has one irregular bay of 20th-century leaded casement windows. The central gable has two bays of similar casement windows on each side of a central timber frame post, and an upper two-light casement window is situated between the central gable and the right-hand projection. The ground floor features a 20th-century enclosed lean-to porch tiled roof, with three bays of three-light leaded casement windows extending across the width between the projections, and an entrance opening at each end.
