Description
Twyford and Ruscombe Church Hall, formerly a school, was built around 1870-1880. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring grey brick decorative motifs. The building has a tiled roof with two tall brick stacks. On the right side, there is a former schoolmaster's house that includes a gabled dormer with a double casement window above and a triple casement window below. To the right, a plank door with elaborate iron hinges is present, accompanied by a rectangular fanlight, hoodmoulding, and sidelights. On the left, the former schoolroom showcases a large projecting gable with a small mullion at the top and a four-light mullioned and transomed window below. A porch flanked by sidelights is also located on the left, along with an iron footscraper and a plinth. The rear elevation features a projecting gable with a similar four-light mullioned and transomed window. Inside, there is a plain hall consisting of three bays, with arch braces on stone corbels and a 20th-century suspended ceiling positioned about three feet above the springing of the cove.
