Description
Sonning House and Hammering House is a late 18th-century building that has been converted from one house into two. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of brick with offset eaves and a hipped roof covered in old tiles, featuring flanking chimneys. The south front displays three bays, with large four-pane sash windows in the outer bays on the upper floor, and three-light wood casements on the ground floor with segmental heads. The central bay has a six-panelled door flanked by upper blocked vitreous panels, with the upper panels glazed and framed by an architrave, cut brackets, and a cornice hood. The building is set back from the road and is complemented by late 18th-century wrought iron railings with a gate at the front. There are 20th-century two-storey extensions added to both the left and right sides.
