Hall house, now 2 cottages. Early C15, altered C17 and mid C20. Timber frame encased in brick and part render, part roughcast. Old tile roof with gabled crosswings at each end. H-plan, centre hall of 2 framed bays, 2-framed-hay crosswings, the right formerly jettied and contemporary with hall, the left later. Centre; one and a half storeys, crosswings 2 storeys. Roof of centre section swept down to low eaves level. Tall chimneys at each end, and one at rear; that on right larger with 2 coupled shafts; all with clay pots. Late C19 casements with glazing bars. Entrance front: centre section; 2 gabled roof dormers with 2-light casements, similar windows but larger on ground floor with plain planked entrance door on left. Left gable roughcast, one bay. 3-light casement first floor, 4-light casement on ground floor. Right gable similar but steeper pitched roof and 3-light casement on ground floor. Small C20 lean-to extension set back on left of No. 39 with planked entrance door under small pediment hood. Interior: some timber frame exposed in No. 38, curved braces in former hall roof. Crosswing has curved and straight wind braces with simple collar roof with through purlins.
