Description

This is a late 16th-century cottage, which has been altered and extended in the 19th century and late 20th century, and is now divided into two separate cottages. The building is mostly timber frame with brick infill, with some areas of brickwork and has a gabled roof covered in old tiles. Originally built on a rectangular plan of three timber-framed bays, it now has an L-shaped footprint with extensions at the rear. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys, with a two-storey extension to number 34 and a one-storey flat-roofed extension to number 32. A central chimney has an offset head and a tall clay pot. The front facing the road is irregular, and features three hipped-roof dormers. Windows are mostly 19th-century, with 2- and 3-light casements featuring glazing bars. There are two planked entrance doors; the door to number 32 is now disused, with a new entrance door in the rear extension.
