Description

The Cemetery Chapel, built in 1894, is located on the east side of Ditton Road in Datchet. The land for the chapel was donated by Her Grace, Charlotte Anne, Duchess Dowager of Buccleuch and Queensberry, and the building was constructed by Mrs. Mary Ann Crake. It is designed in a Gothic style, featuring red brick with moulded brick dressings and a tiled roof. The chapel is a single cell structure with a gabled porch and vestry projections. It has pointed windows, four bays with diagonal buttresses, and continuous drip mould and cill bands. At the west end, there is a simple rose window above blank arcading, and a large tripartite window is located at the east end. Above the entrance, there is a decorative tile panel.

Inside, the chapel has yellow stock bricks with red brick dressings, and the arches are well gauged and chamfered. There is a moulded brick dado rail, and good stained glass can be found at either end and in two side windows. A ceramic memorial panel is situated on the west end wall, along with an inscription plaque on the north wall.
