Description

Numbers 17, 17A (Lovell Cottage), and 19 (Astracott) are a group of buildings dating primarily to the 18th century, although the main structure of Number 17 retains an early 16th-century timber frame. The buildings have an old tile roof with hipped ends. The walls are rendered and colourwashed, with a parapet and plain coping. They feature four double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, set within flush boxed frames. A central window on the first floor has been blocked. There are two 19th-century part-glazed doors. An extension on the right-hand side has a hipped end facing the road and an old tile roof. It includes a square bay with modern leaded lights under a tiled pent roof, topped by a two-light wood casement window with a central glazing bar. A flank chimney is located on the left-hand side. A plat band runs across the building at the first floor level. Number 17 is a two-bay crosswing and features a rear service bay with most of the original timber framing remaining, including arch braces.
