Description

This is an early 17th-century cottage, altered and extended in the early 20th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill and has a thatched gable roof. The cottage has a rectangular plan, originally consisting of two framed bays, with a single-storey extension on the west side. It is two storeys high and has two chimneys, each projecting from the end gables. The windows are 20th-century leaded casements. The west front, which serves as the entrance front, is irregular in appearance. The thatched roof extends over the single-storey extension to a low eaves level, with a single two-light window in the extension. To the left of this, there are two windows on the first floor, one single-light and one two-light, and a three-light window on the ground floor. A 20th-century plain entrance door is located on the right return of the extension, with a small, shallow-pitched tile roof above it. The east front, which faces the garden, has two bays, with two two-light windows on the first floor, two garden doors, and two small windows on the ground floor, all sheltered by a 20th-century thatched verandah. The interior retains some exposed timber framing.
