Description
Old St Christopher's is a building that dates back to around 1720, with the top storey added in the 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick with red dressings and quoins. The building has four storeys and features six double-hung sash windows with flat arches on the first and second floors. The ground floor has a high cement plinth and a continuous frieze and cornice above the windows, along with a right-hand carriageway. There are brick bands at each floor level, and a modillion and cyma recta wooden cornice above the second floor. The top storey is finished in stucco.
The yard front is particularly interesting, with weatherboarding and wood balustrading on the first floor, which was formerly open but is now backed by boarding. The ground floor houses the Eton Society ("Pop") rooms, which are accessed by wooden steps with balustrading.
Old St Christopher's is part of a group that includes Gulliver's, Gulliver's End, St Christopher's, Hodgson's House, and premises occupied by Alden and Blackwell and Carter House.
