Description
St Christopher's is an early 19th-century front added to a charming 18th-century house. The building is finished in stucco and has two storeys with a symmetrical arrangement of windows: two on the left, one in the centre, and one on the right, all featuring double-hung sashes with sills. The central section projects slightly and includes a round-headed doorway with an archivolt. Above this doorway is an architrave moulding supported by consoles, and to the right is a similar doorway. The main entrance has a six-panel door, with the top four panels replaced by glass, and is topped by a semi-circular fanlight. The building also features a frieze and cornice, with the frieze sloping down over the first-floor windows to create the appearance of a raised flat arch. A central pediment and parapet are present, along with an old tile roof. St Christopher's is part of a group that includes Gulliver's, Gulliver's End, Old St Christopher's, Hodgson's House, and premises occupied by Alden and Blackwell and Carter House.
