Description

Barnespool Bridge is a road bridge over Barne's Pool, dated 1883 and designed by engineer A.M. Fowler. It features a wide single-span design that carries the High Street over the now-drained Barne's Pool. The carriageway is supported by transverse fish-belly iron girders, which are separated by diagonal braces. The bridge has iron lattice girder parapets and granite terminal piers that include ornate cast-iron lamp standards. The abutments are constructed of brick with granite quoins.
