Description

The building at 40A and 41 Thames Street dates to around 1840. It is a three-story block, with the front of number 40A set at an obtuse angle. The building is constructed of red brick with stucco pilaster strips along the sides and between the properties, the dividing pair treated as thin, coupled pilasters. It has a stucco frieze cornice and blocking. There are three windows to the upper floors, each a tripartite glazing bar sash window set within vertically linked stucco surrounds that continue through both floors. The ground floor has been altered. Numbers 40A to 45 form a group.
