Description
The barn at Ockwells Manor is a large, disused threshing barn dating from the late 15th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and an old tiled gabled roof. The barn has a long rectangular plan consisting of nine framed bays, with two gabled midstreys of two framed bays each located in the third and seventh bays on the southwest front. Inside, the barn showcases a very fine timber frame, including queen post roof trusses clasped through purlins, jowled posts, and long curved knee- and wind-braces. Rafter holes can be found on all rafters, including those in the midstreys.
