Description

Nos 23 and 24 Park Street are a pair of 18th-century houses that rise three storeys above a cellar. They are constructed from red brick, featuring vertical lines of vitreous brick between the windows, a painted plinth, and door surrounds. A moulded brick string course with tile creasing runs above the second-floor windows, and the building is topped with a brick parapet that has stone coping and an old tile roof.

On the second floor, there are eight semi-circular headed casement windows, while the first floor has four windows without glazing bars. The ground floor contains six windows and two six-panelled doors; No 23 has a three-pane rectangular fanlight, and No 24 has a plain rectangular fanlight. The doors are set in rusticated brick jambs with moulded caps, a plain frieze, and a denticulated cornice, although part of the cornice for No 24 is missing. Each door is accessed by three stone steps, and there are two central windows in the cellar, one of which is blocked.

These houses are part of a group that includes Park Street Lodge, Nos 2 to 16 (consecutive), Nos 25 to 28 (local list only), the entrance to Black Lion Yard, Nos 20 to 24 (consecutive), the archway to Royal Mews, and Nos 29 to 35 (consecutive), along with Cambridge Lodge, Cambridge Gate, and Park Street Gate.
