Description

This is a late 18th-century pair of three-story houses situated on a corner site where Peascod Street meets Goswell Hill. The front of the buildings is stuccoed above modern shop fronts, while a red brick wing extends along Goswell Hill. Later alterations have been made to the building.

The front elevation features quoin pilasters and a dividing pilaster, a plain parapet, and the removal of the original cornice. A sill band runs between the pilasters on the second floor. Each of the upper floors contain two windows, all fitted with glazing bar sashes. A lead rainwater head, decorated with a putto in relief, is also present.

The return elevation facing Goswell Hill has a wooden cornice above an old tile roof. A wood beam is tied in above the first floor. Further details include flush-framed sash windows with slightly cambered header arches, a hatchway (loading bay), and a large three-light works window which may have originally formed part of a coach house entrance. The entrance to No. 134A is pilastered and features an archivolt arch with a key stone.

The northern end of the Goswell Hill elevation is stuccoed and has a shaped gable. Within the gable is a camber-arched glazing bar sash window to the attic. There are two partly glazed hatches on the first floor, and a single window and double door on the ground floor.
