Description

This is a picturesque group of thirteen cottages located on Marlow Road in Bisham Village. The cottages date to the early 17th century and the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. Nos. 27 and 28 have a timber frame with brick infill, while the others are brick built. The roofs are old clay tiles of varying heights, with some hipped and some gabled sections, and include dormers and roof dormers on all sides. The layout is irregular—Nos. 16, 27, and 28 run parallel to the road and are close to it, Nos. 17–21 are set back between the two wings, Nos. 22–26 link these to Nos. 27 and 28 at right angles to both, and the whole is unified. Nos. 16, 27 and 28 are one or two storeys high, with attics. No. 16 is one storey with an attic. Numerous chimneys with clay pots are located primarily on the ridges. The cottages have 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars, and the doors are mostly plain, some with square glass panes in the upper part.
