Description
Chalk Pit Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with 19th and 20th-century additions, located on the north side of Back Lane in Stanford Dingley. The original structure is timber framed with brick nogging, and it features later brick additions, including a wing to the east. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section to the south and a ridge stack located off-centre. There are two 20th-century tile-hung dormers with casement windows on the west side. The cottage has a T-plan layout, with two timber-framed bays, and is 1 1/2 storeys in height, with further two-storey additions. The west front has two 20th-century segmental-headed casement windows on the right side, two 19th-century segmental-headed casements on the left, and a casement window in the 20th-century addition to the far left. A boarded door with a segmental head is situated between the second and third windows from the left.
