Description

Lilac Cottage and Yew Tree Cottage is a farmhouse that has been divided into two houses. It dates from around 1600 and the mid-18th century, with 19th-century additions at the rear on the right. The left side is timber framed with angle braces, while the right side features red brick nagging and partial red brick refacing, with rendered brick. The roof is made of old tiles, half hipped on the left, with two gables on the right at the rear and a projecting half hipped cross wing on the left that has an exposed queen post truss. The building is arranged in a T-plan with four framed bays in the cross wing and stands two storeys tall.

There is an off-centre ridge stack to the left, an end stack to the left, and a stack at the rear. On the first floor, there are two 2-light segmental headed casements to the right and a 20th-century casement to the left. The ground floor features a 2-light casement to the right and a four-panelled door to the left, accompanied by a 20th-century timber porch. The cross wing has 2-light casements on both floors. The north-west front has two first floor 2-light casements to the left, one of which is leaded, and a 20th-century casement to the right. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casements to the right, a 2-light horizontal sliding sash in the outshut to the left, and an off-centre boarded door to the right with a 20th-century lean-to porch.
