Description
91 and 92 Northbrook Street is a house built around 1740, designed in the style of James Clarke of Newbury, likely for a member of the Head family. The building has three storeys and seven bays, topped with a hipped tiled roof. It is constructed of red brick with rubbed dressings. Tuscan pilasters extend through the first and second floors, supporting an entablature. The parapet features pilaster strips and is ramped up at the ends. The windows are gauged segmental arched sash types with exposed boxing, flush frames, and glazing bars, while the second floor has blind alternate windows. There are modern shop fronts at the ground level. A lead rainwater head on the north return is dated 1774. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a brick cornice and a tile-hung gable.
