Description
Hillhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600, with some refacing from the 19th century and a large 19th-century wing added to the south. The building is constructed of brick and timber framing with brick nogging, and features some later brick refacing. It has an old tile roof that is hipped over the projecting wing on the left, with an off-centre stack to the left and another stack to the right, along with a 20th-century dormer featuring casements. The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan, consisting of three framed bays that are one storey and an attic, with the large two-storey wing projecting to the left.
On the east front, there is a brick-faced bay on the right, a 2-light 19th-century casement in the centre bay, and a 5-light 19th-century casement in the left-hand bay. The projecting wing has a right-hand return wall that includes one first-floor 3-light segmental-headed casement and two ground-floor 3-light segmental-headed casements to the left. To the right, there is a 5-panelled door with a rectangular overlight beneath a segmental head and a 20th-century porch. Inside, the frame includes one pair of cruck blades.
