Description
Cruck Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with extensions from the 17th and 20th centuries. It features painted brick walls, some exposed timber framing, and planted timbers, topped with a half hipped thatched roof and a ridge chimney. The structure consists of one bay of crucks on the east side, a central 17th-century bay, and a 20th-century extension to the west. It is 1 and a half storeys high.
On the west elevation, the left bay has a brick ground floor between the cruck frames, with 17th-century timber framing above forming the upper floor. There is a three-light 20th-century casement window in this bay. The central bay has exposed 17th-century timber framing on the upper level and a three-light 20th-century metal casement window. The right side features a 20th-century extension with simulated timber framing and 20th-century casements flanking a gabled porch. Each bay has an eaves dormer with thatch swept around. The east elevation showcases the exposed cruck frame with 17th-century framing at the upper level.
