Description
No. 63 Cheap Street is a town house built around 1796, as indicated by a date plaque on the front that reads "TG 1796". The house has two storeys and dormers, featuring a double front with three bays. It has a half-hipped, mansard tile roof and is constructed from multi-coloured stock brick with a parapet. The flat-headed dormer sashes include glazing bars, while the outer bays have segmental bowed bay windows that extend to the full height. The house also has 2-light sash windows with glazing bars. The central first-floor window is architraved, adorned with a stucco head and glazing bars. A notable feature is the Doric doorcase with an open pediment, which frames a round-arched doorway that includes a decorated fanlight and a panelled door. Inside, there are two impressive Adam-style chimney-pieces. The builder of the house, T Green, previously had a datestone from 1788 in the now-demolished north garden boundary wall at the rear.
